GOALS |
|
Class Size Reduction: (IF NECESSARY) The Foundation was born out of the efforts of our community to maintain the 20 student to 1 teacher ratio in the third grades. Our efforts have been successful over the past three years. We will continue our efforts to save this valuable educational program in the years to come if our help is needed.
Return Music to our Primary Classrooms: Severe budget cuts by the State of California have eliminated enrichment programs from our school. The primary grades music program was one of the first of these programs to disappear. The Foundation has not only returned music to our Kindergarten and Third Grade students, but has broadened it to include First and Second Grades, as well.
Maintain the School's Educational Technology Tools: The Foundation will assist the school in maintaining and upgrading its technology tools and infrastructure for the purpose of both teachers and students being able to use appropriate levels of technology in mastering curriculum. Our Goal this year is to upgrade the Computer lab.
Return the Services of a School Librarian: A professional school librarian's service was another victim of State budgets cuts. BESF hopes to raise funds for the purpose of increasing the school's librarian's service from 3 hours per week to 8 hours per week or more.
Teacher and Staff Professional Development Support: BESF hopes to support the professionalism and expertise of the school's educational staff by providing grants towards professional development and supplies to use directly with students.
Provide a Safe "Bank" for various School Projects: The Foundation provides a safe organization to hold and account for funds collected by specific groups in the school. An example is the Fifth Grade Science Camp funds, money raised by parents over a year's time to send their children to fifth grade science camp.
Fund Raise on a Large Scale Basis: BESF looks to the support of the parent community to assist in supporting its goal. Beyond that, the Foundation will seek assistance from local businesses committed to supporting an excellent school in the community within which it does business. Further, BESF will actively research and apply for grants and endowments from larger foundations dedicated to such purposes. BESF is not in competition with our school's PTA, but in fact, will serve as a support organization for it. |
